President George Bush has created a cabinet level committee, the Committee on Ocean Policy, to oversee and coordinate the US oceans policy. The committee is part of the President's formal response to the final report of the US Commission on Ocean Policy (http://www.oceancommission.gov/). The
Commission has made recommendations for a national ocean policy for the responsible use and stewardship of ocean and coastal resources for the benefit of the United States and abroad. The President's response, entitled "U.S. Ocean Action Plan", is available at http://ocean.ceq.gov
